Out To Get Us (Acoustic)

Hey, I’m Anny and now showing my first own song to the world.

I previously released a single with Calum Scott, after fulfilling my dream of winning The Voice of Germany (at the 6th attempt) in 2022.

I haven’t wanted to do anything else but music since I started singing, so I made it my sole priority, spending the last 2 years building and discovering my sound. Now that I’ve found who I am, I am proud to present to you my baby, my first single “Out To Get Us”.

I firmly believe in the power of music to convey messages that words fail to do, which is why this song talks about a very important personal yet universally shared experience.

It’s essentially about the freedom to be yourself – in my case that means being non-binary and having to put up with the fact that my sheer existence is treated as a controversy. “Out To Get Us” deals with the frustration of wanting a peaceful and self-detemined life without having to fight for it. What matters most to me is that the song doesn’t aim to provoke or heat up the discussion any further, it simply showcases the absurdity of people feeling threatened by change that doesn’t even affect them. Yet it’s change that means living a free and true life, just like everybody else, for me and a lot of other people. I’m mad that I have to be angry in order to be taken seriously as a non-binary person – “Out To Get Us” is my desperate but optimistic attempt at resolving this issue once and for all.

Having grown up with great artists such as Whitney Houston and Céline Dion, I consider my music a contemporary take on old-school music industry ideals. I like songs to take up the space they deserve – something to captivate the listener immediately and immerse them in it, with vocals and melodies to remember. In my mind, songs are like jokes – they’re not great if they need too much explaining. So go listen for yourself and (hopefully) enjoy my first own single “Out To Get Us”.

Much love,

Anny
